Basic Purpose and Objective
Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
⢠Strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships.
⢠Repair Header tools and make complete header tool components.
⢠Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
⢠Work with mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
⢠Use shop math as required.
⢠Clean and maintain the work area.
Skills and Formal Training Requirements/Experience
⢠Good machining skills.
⢠Shop math
⢠Must be able to read blueprints.
⢠Use measuring instruments (i.e., micrometers, calipers, comparators).
⢠Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a tool maker for a manufacturing facility.
