Basic Purpose and ObjectiveThread roll operator maximizes efficiency through the process of set-ups and operations of two or more Thread roll machines for the manufacture of new or revised fasteners and special products. This person is responsible for processes methods in accordance with production specifications and quality standards.Specific Duties and Responsibilities⢠Performs independently and consistently sets-up, operation and maintains two (2) or more thread roll machines successfully according to detail blueprints, specifications, work orders and instructions to manufacture various types of fasteners. Selects and obtains proper tooling for the particular jobs.⢠Performs and operates thread roll machines producing external roll threads in various types and diameters of fasteners and removes parts at the end of the machine cycles.⢠Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience to maintain correct dimensions of parts while running the job using correct calibrated measuring tools.⢠Determines proper die speeds, die selection and rolling cycles in order to produce parts to fulfill thread requirements. Sets the proper heating temperatures with minimal guidance of supervisory or lead personnel.⢠Performs machine operating adjustments, regulates and controls to detect out-of-tolerance machining or control media as required.Page 2Observes, performs and adjusts the controls functions of coolant flow and machine rates. â¢Recognizes and performs the corrective actions of machinemalfunctioning, basic sequence of operations.â¢Major discrepancies or malfunctions are reported to supervisor andmaintenance when machines maintenance is required or needed.â¢Checks tooling and notifies supervisor if tooling is non-conforming.â¢Able to read routers and operation drawings to determine machiningdimensions and requirements.â¢Checks threading on test parts to assure conformance tospecifications, checks for such factors as pitch, angle, length, diameterand related factors.â¢Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per specificationand acts in accordance with output.â¢Utilizes full range of precision measuring and gauging tools toperform inspection before start, during and completion of productionrun.â¢Inspects parts to ensure conformation, dimension and tolerance levelswith specifications and blueprints using measuring tools such ascalipers and micrometers.â¢Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform thefunctions of the job.Skills and Formal Training Requirements/Experienceâ¢Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanicaldrawings.â¢Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance tospecifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
