Basic Purpose and Objective
Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures, sets up various sizes and types of cold forming machines automatically shaping parts to blueprint specifications and set-up charts.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
⢠Tear down, set up and operate multiple product lines to specified tolerances of hot or cold headers or trimmers to produce metal parts.
⢠Conduct First run inspection and periodic quality checks
⢠Perform routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning, lubricating, adding fluids, check air pressure and oil levels.
⢠Installs cold heading tooling in machines.
⢠Sets up and installs various support equipment.
⢠Computes feed length and progression to produce quality parts.
⢠Establishes processing parameters and sets monitoring equipment to ensure processing parameters are maintained to produce quality parts.
⢠Reads measuring equipment such as shadowgraphs, micrometers, calipers, and related equipment.
⢠Performs minor die repairs and modifications to include sharpening and adjustments to maintain integrity of parts.
⢠Runs wire through machine.
⢠Moves stock to and from machine.
⢠Moves containers of finished parts.
⢠Lifting to 35 lbs.

Skills and Formal Training Requirements/Experience
⢠5+ years of experience as a header man
⢠Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
⢠Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
⢠Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.
⢠Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
⢠Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number, or parts to be checked.
