Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using AutoCAD software and/or SolidWorks.
- Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
- Coordinate and consult with Tooling Dept. to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Check dimensions of materials to be used for such drawings and update the drawings accordingly.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Ensures that all engineering documents are maintained in good order, i.e., drawings, description of operation, sequence of operation, owner’s manual, reports, etc.
- References drawings stored in the archive and compares against similar, current drawings.
- Maintains regular contact with the Manufacturing Engineer to receive feedback on drawings. Edits drawings according to advisement of the Director of Engineering.
- Completes drawings by deadlines established in the project schedule. Works on multiple drawings at the same time when necessary, showing multitasking abilities.
- Coordinates efforts with other team members to maximize responsiveness to engineering issues as they arise.
