Human Resources (HR) Manager

Summary:Lamsco West is seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to support and implement the targets set by the Company President via strategic and tactical management of the HR function. To be responsible for organizational HR, employee relations, recruitment, retention, HR risk mitigation and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local HR laws. About Us:Lamsco West, Inc is a premier manufacturer and supplier for Aerospace and Defense specialty metallic and non-metallic machined parts, assemblies, solid and laminated stock and value-added services.  Lamsco West, Inc. is the largest single manufacturer of detail parts, shims and laminated shim stock in the World. A division of Avantus Aerospace, Lamsco holds approvals from all North American airframe manufacturers and their major tier one suppliers and has expertise in managing complex, high-volume logistics, including EDI-controlled min/max systems. Reporting Structure:Direct Line – President, Lamsco WestDotted Line – Group HR & Risk Management Director Main Duties and Responsibilities: Compliance with HR laws:Maintains up to date knowledge/understanding of HR regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws.Ensures Company’s compliance with HR applicable regulations and laws.Responsible for ensuring Company Form 5500 filings are duly filed.Directly responsible for all aspects of the Affirmative Action Plan.Acts as Management Representative in reference to all EEOC or OFCCP audits. Liaison with management:Works closely with Management team to define and evaluate staffing needs.Works closely with department supervisors and managers to assist them with their responsibilities in reference to Human Resources matters.Investigates problems and employee complaints such as working conditions, harassment allegations, disciplinary actions.Supports Managers on disciplinary, grievance and absence management in line with Company policies and procedures and local law. Liaison with Group:Works with Avantus Aerospace Group HR to continually develop and maintain the US Employee Handbook and the Company Appendix and ensure employees are and remain aware of its content.Works with Group HR and other Company Management to continually ensure employees are and remain aware (via hard/soft copies) of other Group policies and procedures. Recruitment & retention:Liaises with Management to maintain an up to date understanding of staffing needs and requirements, assisting with staffing plans.Oversees all stages of the pre-employment process and in new orientation for new hires.Uses online recruitment portal confidently and competently. HR Administration:Ensures accurate and up to date HR administration including all hard copy and digital records.Oversees absence management including taking sick calls; updating database; liaising with managers and supervisors; counselling personnel; arranging health appointments.Acts as payroll interface for time off issues including sick time, holidays, and overtime.Leads in ITAR/export compliance in matters of HR/personnel at Company. Training and development:Is champion for online Training via Group training portal, developing and maintaining Company training plan.Responsible for logistics of planning and implementation (with managers/supervisors/ 3rd parties as required) of all on-site/off-site training.Ensures the accurate up to date maintenance of training records, including by means of any group training system that is introduced.Works with managers and supervisors to ensure no workforce training gaps exist.Leads in the scheduling and follow through on annual appraisals for Company personnel including via Goalspan. Workers’ compensation:Proactively oversees, manages and administers all aspects of Workers Compensation Program, including Company’s involvement in strategic claims reduction initiatives and an effective return to work program.Reviews all workers compensation claims to ensure the accuracy of carrier’s payment and reports. Benefits program: Is the Company lead on all matters relating to Company benefits programs, including health care, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD and 401k, working in conjunction with Group HR and the Group’s 3rd party brokers/other intermediaries. Environmental, Health & Safety:Provides support to the Company and Group HSE colleagues.Provides support to departmental supervisors/managers to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations. Performs other such duties which generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility, including additional duties as assigned. Additional Comments: The essential functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
