EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Engineer

Avantus Aerospace is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer to manage EHS programs for a fastener manufacturing facility in the Los Angeles area. The candidate will be a self-starter and perform both individually and in a team environment. The candidate will be responsible for a broad range of work across EHS disciplines, with an emphasis placed on health and safety.  This individual will report directly to the General Manager, and dotted line reporting to the EHS Manager.ResponsibilitiesLead the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, systems and standards for our site in Paramount area.Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, DOT, EPA and other applicable regulatory agencies.Collaborate with employees to complete hazard assessments, PPE assessments, and implement appropriate policies and procedures to mitigate risks.Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards.Support incident management process to determine cause(s), prevention, and corrective measures.Track EHS training needs, compliance, and effectiveness.Support environmental compliance programs.Provide contractor oversight for EHS requirements.Plan, conduct, document and track implementation of safety audits and corrective actions.Requirements5-10 years working as an EHS Engineer in a manufacturing environment.Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proven ability to manage multiple projects/assignments with varying priorities.Strong background with Machine Guarding, Control of Hazardous Energy, Hazard Communications, Electrical Safety, Mobile Equipment and Lifting programs.Experience working in machine shops preferred.Experience with process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) preferred.
