CNC Machinist – Aerospace

Performance Plastics is looking for a CNC machinist to aid our company in its mission to the premier provider of composite and metal bonded parts for the aerospace industry. As one of our CNC machinists, you will interpret client specifications, enter them into the CNC machine, set up the machine and monitor it as it operates. You will make critical contributions to our company’s reputation, ensuring the excellence of our products by following inspection protocols and detecting errors before products are released.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Perform tool set ups and troubleshooting.Source products and services at competitive prices and in line with company procedures and business needs.Conduct procurement research projects and analyze results with the objective of identifying opportunities to maximize operations efficacy and profitability.Perform in-depth analysis of supplies’ cost data for major components and develop negotiation strategies and or purchase options.Perform cost modeling, opportunity analysis, monitoring and reporting of new initiatives and objectives for specified components or top projects.Negotiate best terms with suppliers while maintaining efficient output of purchase orders to reach highest quality at best value.Ensure on time delivery of products and services purchased. Monitor supplier performance and prepare related reports.Identify and resolve problems related to purchasing and company suppliers.Communicates with user departments such as engineering and operations to ensure alignment.Other responsibilities per business needs.BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 3 years of work experience within the machining industry, preferably aerospace.Able to operate 3 or 5 axes CNC controls to produce production runs of machined parts.Knowledge of editing programs at the machine.Advanced knowledge of CNC related math, blueprints, and sketches.Advanced ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Demonstrated ability to lay out, set up and run close tolerance machined parts of titanium, composite, plastic, and stainless steel using computerized numerical control.Experience in contract negotiating. PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work extended hours when required by business needs.Must be able to work an industrial setting and wear personal protective equipment typically required in a manufacturing environment.ITAR RequirementThis position requires the use of information which is subject to compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR).
