Quality Engineer

Essential Job Functions:Review and Approve customer contracts and manufacturing planning for conformance to program quality requirements.Evaluate current, and apply advanced, inspection methods and metrics to the evaluation of product quality.Investigate and troubleshoot (external and internal) performance issues.Initiate and lead root cause analysis for product/process related concerns, analyzes audit results, and recommend proper corrective and preventive action.Assist with the preparation of customer responses to performance issues.Audit the Quality Management System (QMS) in support of AS9100D requirements and update as necessary with improvements.Coordinate with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure compliance with industry and customer requirements.Submit final data packages for customer approval via source inspection and portal submissions.Collaborate with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products and processes.Provides expertise and knowledge on complex issues and acts as a professional resource for colleagues.Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Other responsibilities as assigned and needed. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and/or additional hours as necessary.Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Education:Previous work experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role.Advanced knowledge of Quality Engineering processes. Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment, working with Defense customers and requirements.Professional degree in quality, industrial, mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.ASQ certification preferred.Ability to read, write and speak English.Familiarity with an AS9100D quality management system and AS9102 First Article requirements.Ability to exercise a high degree of originality and independent judgment in addition to keeping abreast of new technology and engineering advancements.Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.Ability to analyze and improve product inspection techniques and processes to current and complex configurations.Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.Neat penmanship, detail oriented, able to multi-task several functions.Able to organize to optimize efficiency. Excellent computer literacy and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Acrobat applications Familiarity with Net-Inspect and customer documentation submittal packages.Working knowledge of GD&T principles and ability to apply those to the inspection of product.Ability to interpret and work from customer supplied models (CATIA and NX) for the inspection of parts.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Keyence, Micro Vu and/or CMM experience a plus. Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. Must be able to stay late/modify work hours on short notice, if deadlines require it.Physical/Mental Requirements:Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, specifications, files & certifications to accomplish the inspection of parts.Manual dexterity to use micrometers, calipers, height gages, optical inspection instrumentation, computer terminal, fill out forms, look up/ file documents etc. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend waist and neck, squat, twist neck and waist, use hands to grasp, manipulate, push, pull and reach potentially for extended periods of time. Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, twist and lift up to 40 lbs. for potentially extended periods of time in a given work shift.Ability to maneuver successfully through a two-story 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility with varying temperatures that is not heated or has AC.Work Shift (1st): 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM + overtime as business needs dictate.  AUD Santa Clarita
